Understanding Credential Offers
A credential offer is an invitation sent to a recipient that allows them to claim a digital credential. The offer contains all the necessary information for the recipient's wallet to request and receive the credential.
What is a Credential Offer?
When you issue a credential, Skippy ID creates a credential offer that includes:
- Credential Offer URI: A unique URL that identifies the offer
- Issuer Information: Details about who is issuing the credential
- Credential Type: The type of credential being offered
- Pre-Authorized Code: A code that allows the recipient to authenticate and claim the credential
Security Considerations
Credential offers include several security features:
- Pre-Authorized Codes: Ensure only the intended recipient can claim the credential
- Expiration: Offers expire after a set period to prevent unauthorized access
- Transaction Codes: Optional PINs add an extra layer of security
- Secure Links: All offer URLs use secure, time-limited tokens
